I want to do a series of poster designs consisting of a lot of negative space. All posters (maybe three) will be unified and tied together through the images. It will symmetric and simple. I think I shall use some form of collage by collaborating photos with illustrations/scans incorporated. My main inspiration shall be the images by Kelly Smith of the girls, yet I will probably not illustrate. I will use black and white photos (highly edited to almost make them look computer generated or drawn) and exclude the background and substitute in some form of colour.
It will be computer generated using Photoshop and Indesign (CS4).
The type will be sourced from a website to match the style of the chosen store, most likely san-serif to keep it casual.
There isn’t really a particular era that is inspiring me, but there will definatley be a skate/surf culture behind it, nothing too classy or defined. I want a sense of fun to be emitted through these posters.
The target audience will be males and females ages 17-25 so quite young as I feel the style that has been defined will also most appeal to this generation.
